Letter From The President

Hi Everyone!
I hope that everyone enjoyed Youth Nationals as much as I did! As a delegate, I attended the Youth Convention on Friday afternoon where we heard speech's from the people running for office, and then we voted. Region XI was VERY excited, because our President, Kim Luebcke, was elected President of the AHYA. She has big plans for next year and we are all very happy for her. After that was finished, we got a preview of the concert from singer/speaker Liz Carlisle. She started out with a song by Tim McGraw, and then she went on to do a few songs of her own. When Liz finished her songs, she started her motivational speech. She talked about her childhood life, and growing up in a small town in Montana. It was very good and everyone enjoyed it. On Sunday evening, AHYA held the annual "Parade of the Regions" where each region rents a golf cart and decorates it according to their theme. The overall theme of Youth this year was AHYA Goes to Hollywood, so Region XI decided to do Paris Hilton in Jail. We decorated our golf cart as a jail, and Kim put on an orange jump suit and "Tinkerbell" and her drove around the coliseum. On Monday evening, the Stick Horse class was held, and everyone had a blast. On Wednesday night was the first ever Youth Nationals concert. Liz Carlisle opened for the famous country band Emerson Drive. It was a great night to have a concert, for once the rain held off! Both Liz and Emerson Drive were awesome, and the crowd was pretty pumped. Overall, I'd say that Youth Nationals was a huge success this year. The weather stayed pretty nice for the most part, and I hope it's as much fun next year! Good luck to everyone showing in the Gold Star Futurity/Fall Show over Labor Day!
